We're creating a new mailing list, and you can help us build it!

It's dedicated to the discussion of the Palladium Fantasy Role-Playing
Game (the original Palladium game), and is named "palladium-frpg",
sometimes shortened to "PFRPG-L". Subscription/administrivia details
are below.

The list also has a World-Wide Web resource page dedicated to it. See
http://www.his.com/~brad/palladium/. We'll be adding more resources
as time goes by, but for now, there's not much there. If you have
anything you'd like to share with the other subscribers to the list,
but is in binary format, relatively large in size (~30KB or more), or
otherwise inappropriate for posting to the list itself, you can send
it to me privately and I'll put it up on the PFRGP-L resource page for
you (assuming it's not a gross violation of the Palladium copyright
mentioned below).

The Two Cardinal Rules:

Know that Palladium has an official copyright statement available via
either the Knightline or Brett Hegr's Palladium RPG links from the
PFRPG-L Resource Page (more info on that below). Under no
circumstances will gross violations of the Palladium copyright be
tolerated on any resource I am responsible for maintaining -- I just
don't need the legal hassles.

By posting to this mailing list, you are explicitly agreeing to having
your messages archived, and the future potential of having that
archive easily accessible to the entire Internet via anonymous FTP
and/or the world-wide web. This shouldn't be a surprise to you, but
others have raised legal questions on this issue, so it's best to make
this explicit.

Roger's Otherwise Rules of Not-Exactly-Order:

Limited discussion of games crossing over into other Palladium system
games will be tolerated, but not necessarily encouraged. At no time
will we discuss the game "Rifts", which used to have a much larger and
more frequently trafficked list virtually dedicated to it. Many of us
have other interests as well as the Palladium FRPG, and we'll be glad
to point you to other, more appropriate lists, for discussions of
certain sorts. I'd like to keep this list pretty much on-topic for
now, since it's likely to be small and cozy for a while.

Both GM's and players are welcome, as are attempts to coordinate
face-to-face games. If you want to start up a Play-By-E-Mail game,
you're certainly welcome to do that (and I might be interested in
playing myself, if I can find a spare picosecond), but please don't
try to run it through the list itself. Also, I'd appreciate it if you
didn't share graphics directly through the list -- feel free to
publish (or send me) URLs and other source information where people
can go find things, but I'd rather not have my mailbox cluttered up
with a lot of GIFs or JPEGs.

For now, any Palladium employees that are interested in joining are
welcome, but I don't plan on making a particular effort one way or the
other to encourage or discourage their subscription or participation.
As far as I'm concerned, we're all essentially equals here, with
contributions valued on the content, not the source.

The only other things I ask of you at this point is that you clearly
distinguish between rules as can be found in the various books, your
own interpretations of those rules, and House Rules that may have been
developed to fill the gaps.

Subscription info:

The list is being hosted at unilab.dfci.harvard.edu. Mail to the
list should be addressed to "palladium-frpg@unilab.dfci.harvard.edu",
while subscription/unsubscription requests should be addressed to
"majordomo@unilab.dfci.harvard.edu". There is no digest, nor is there
one planned for the foreseeable future (the list is just too small).
We don't have an archive yet, but we're working on that. Majordomo
would provide one for us automatically if we had a digest, but doing
all the digest work just to get an archive hasn't been worthwhile
until now. Once we get an archive, we will work on making it easily
accessible by anonymous ftp and/or the world-wide web.

Majordomo Commands:

To obtain help about Majordomo commands, such as how to unsubscribe
from a mailing list, place the following command in the body of your
message:

        help

To subscribe to the mailing list, place the following command in the
body of your message:

        subscribe palladium-frpg

To unsubscribe from the mailing list, place the following command in
the body of your message:

        unsubscribe palladium-frpg

So far as I know, whatever you have in the subject line is ignored by
Majordomo.

If you're completely confused, please send your questions to
"owner-palladium-frpg@unilab.dfci.harvard.edu", not the whole list.
Other administrivia should also come to this address. For now, this
should just be an alias pointing to my home email address below, but
in case things change, it's best to use owner-palladium-frpg.

If mail to your subscribed address bounces too much, I'll unsubscribe
you although you're welcome to resubscribe once you get your problems
straightened out. But if this process repeats itself too many times,
I'll unsubscribe you and you won't be welcomed back until such time as
you can privately give me reasonable guarantees that the problems were
transient in nature, and have really been fixed. I'll be as
accomodating as I can, but I refuse to let problems of this nature
persist indefinitely.

People who repeatedly and wantonly violate the very lax rules given
above will be unsubscribed from the list by me, and aren't likely to
be welcomed back anytime soon.
